Sume was Greenland’s most successful rock band in the ’70s. Sumit, their debut effort, sold 10,000 copies within a country with a population of 50,000. Their lyrics were politically charged as they sang about Inuit identity and took park in political events. The album title, Sumit, translates to “where to”, a reference to the future of the Greenlandic people.
